Workshop for professionals supporting migrants with mental health challenges

Tuesday 15th July 2025 from 2.30pm – 5.15pm – in person

Workshop delivered by:   Healthwatch Islington, North London Foundation Trust, Islington Council NRPF, Refugee and Migrant Team, Nafsiyat, Muslim Welfare House and Islington Faiths Forum

Venue: the Muslim Welfare House, 233 Seven Sisters Road, N4 2DA

Aims:

  • Share knowledge and expertise on supporting people with mental health challenges;

  • Identify opportunities for collaborating to reduce mental health inequalities;

  • Map existing mental health services and referral pathways;

  • Identify specific mental health needs of vulnerable migrants;

  • Acknowledge the challenges of front-line work and identify support and training opportunities.

Agenda:

  • Case study discussion – share lessons learned and identify support options while reviewing anonymised case studies. 

  • Service mapping including overview of NHS Mental Health Service from NHS Colleagues: what mental health support is available and identify any gaps. 

  • Managing difficult situations and maintaining professional and personal boundaries: explore what this means and how to support our own wellbeing.

  • Next steps and opportunities for collaboration to reduce mental health inequalities.

This free workshop is for professionals and volunteers working to support mental health challenges.
