Renting from Local Authorities in London - Learning Experience

RENTING FROM LOCAL AUTHORITIES IN LONDON – LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE.

Co-chairs: Michael Fahy and Luke Thurlow – trustees of the Ethical Property Foundation

Most voluntary organisations in London rent premises, and though commercial landlords and fellow charities are increasingly offering accommodation, it is still local authorities which traditionally have been the sector’s default landlord.

In our lunchtime roundtable we are keen to hear your experiences and share our collective learning and perspectives.

  1. With growing pressures on local authorities due to austerity; increase land values; and the requirement on local authorities to obtain best value for money on behalf of taxpayers - how is this affecting you and the charities you work with?

  2. How are these affecting local authority lettings?  Are you finding an increased preference to exercise more control and flexibility through the use of tenancies-at- will?

  3. How has your relationship with your local authority changed in the last five years?

The Ethical Property Foundation is most grateful to City Bridge Foundation for supporting this roundtable. We are asking our clients, members of the grant making community, local authorities, sector thought leaders to join us.

The roundtable will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule  and not recorded. It will be written up in a short report for participants. Book your place today at SR Events | Webinars .
