Standing Together - Adultification Training

Adultification Training

  • 24th November 12- 1pm – Session on Adultification

  • 1-hour Adultification training delivered by Exploitation and Missing team.

  • Seeing children as children is fundamental. However, this is not always the case and when certain children are adultified they are not safeguarded or supported as they should be.

  • Adultification bias is a form of racial prejudice where children of minority groups, typically Black children, are treated by adults as being more mature than they actually are.

  • As with all types of bias and discrimination there are overt ways of doing it but also everyday ways in which people act or words that are used which need to be addressed and changed.

  • This training is an introduction to the topic and will leave professionals with some very important thinking points to take back to their teams.
