Refugee Week - Alternations and Repairs

Jean Stokes Community Centre, Carnoustie Drive London N1 0DX

Kundakala is a social enterprise that provides tailoring and enterprise training for ethnic minority women in low-income households. Through our programmes they enable women to save money, reduce debt, and explore an avenue of income generation.

Kundakala will be running a two-hour Alterations and Repairs session at Jean Stokes Community Centre for Refugee Week. Participants will bring in garments that need repair and will learn how to fix them either by hand or on a sewing machine.

Our qualified sewing tutor will run this two hour session which will cover:

  • Learning how to hand sew - hemming trousers, broken zips, patching holes, size alterations and more

  • Refresher on machine sewing for those who have used a machine before

All attendees will receive a free beginners sewing kit to use at home.

Open to all women, with priority spaces for residents from a refugee, asylum seeking or migrant background.
