Annual Pitt Lecture

YOU ARE WARMLY INVITED TO THE ANNUAL PITT LECTURE 2025:

BARONESS LOLA YOUNG ON EQUALITY, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND 60 YEARS OF THE RACE RELATIONS ACT

DATE: THURSDAY 19 JUNE 2025

TIME: 7PM–9PM

VENUE: THE BLOOMSBURY THEATRE, 15 GORDON STREET, LONDON WC1H 0AH

Please join us for an inspirational evening reflecting on the 60th anniversary of the UK’s Race Relations Act. Held in honour of Lord David Pitt, who dedicated his life to medicine and politics, tenaciously fighting against racism and discrimination. Lord Pitt played a pivotal role in strengthening the UK’s Race Relations legislation and made history as the country’s first Black parliamentary candidate, standing as the candidate for Hampstead.

We are thrilled to welcome Baroness Lola Young as our keynote speaker – a cultural advocate, life peer, and lifelong champion of social justice. From her childhood in foster care to becoming one of the first Black women in the House of Lords, Baroness Young is a passionate speaker who brings a deeply insightful perspective to the lasting impact of the Race Relations Act.

The evening opens with an address by Her Excellency Rachér Croney, High Commissioner for Grenada, and is hosted by Councillor Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Young People and Culture. This promises to be a thought-provoking evening of reflection and inspiration – the perfect beginning to The Homecoming: Camden’s Windrush 2025 celebration.

Please send your RSVP to culture@camden.gov.uk by 5pm on Friday 6 June 2025
